Break Up Google - Do Something at Last!
A year ago, we and many others in the EU signed the “Rebalance Now” petition to the European Commission calling for “Break Up Google.” Yesterday, WeAct, the organization behind the petition, wrote to us: Originally, the Commission had given Google 60 days to resolve the conflict of interest in its business model. Saturday marks the anniversary of that deadline, and clear consequences for Google are still pending! And it goes on to say: Now we need your support once again: Please help us spread the word about the petition — and share the campaign via WhatsApp, Facebook, or email. It only takes a few seconds. But it means that hundreds of people will see the campaign and be able to sign it. We need as many supporters as possible to finally push the EU Commission to take action. Don’t forget: The European Commission determined a year ago that Google is abusing its market power and that this abuse can likely only be stopped by breaking up the company. But a final decision on the consequences for Google is still pending. The Big Tech corporations are leading politicians by the nose through the circus ring. This leads to political disillusionment among many people and harms our democracy!
