No Death Factories in Berlin

For older residents, the call for a demilitarized (West) Berlin still echoes from the pre-reunification era. And until now, there has been virtually no arms production in the city. Only in government buildings, such as the Chancellery and the Bendlerblock of the Ministry of Defense, have plans for massive military buildup been drawn up in recent years. Now, these plans are being put into action. Weapons production is now set to begin at Rheinmetall in Berlin-Wedding. This would mark the first time since World War II that arms have been produced in Berlin.

Various NGOs have called for days of action from July 10–12, 2026, to protest the start of weapons production at Rheinmetall in Berlin. The Berlin Alliance Against Weapons Production has presented a diverse program for the weekend on its website:

  • A circus tent will be set up on the central lawn in Humboldthain Public Park. There will be:
    - exciting lectures and exhibitions
    - music and theater performances
    - creative workshops
    - Opportunities to network
  • In addition, various protest actions you can join will take place throughout Wedding.
  • On Saturday, July 11, starting at 2 p.m., a demonstration will take to the streets at the Gesundbrunnen S- and U-Bahn station, followed by a concert.

Come on by!

Because it’s not too late to drive Germany’s largest arms manufacturer, Rheinmetall, out of the city. We’ve already been successful at its shareholders’ meetings in Berlin — they’re now being held in other cities. There are plenty of reasons to oppose Rheinmetall factories:

Whether in Gaza, Kurdistan, or Yemen: Rheinmetall’s weapons bring suffering, misery, and death to millions of people worldwide. At Scheringstraße 2 in Berlin, near Humboldthain, parts for 155mm artillery shells are set to roll off the assembly line. These projectiles, 90 cm long and weighing 45 kg, can travel 30 to 40 km before shattering into thousands of metal fragments. The German government has ordered this deadly scrap metal at a unit price of 5,000 euros. Rheinmetall is set to deliver a total of 1.7 million units for 8.5 billion euros.

Every single piece can destroy an entire building and kill people in the process. We will stand in the way of this deadly production here and everywhere.
Come to the demonstration tomorrow starting at 2 p.m. at the Gesundbrunnen S-Bahn and U-Bahn station!
