01.05.2018 Maifest am Brandenburger Tor

May 1st in Berlin

In glorious summer weather, tens of thousands took to the streets again in Berlin to stand up for their rights. Aktion Freiheit statt Angst was there.

The demonstration went from Hackescher Markt to the Brandenburger Tor. We distributed several hundred flyers about the planned acquisition of armed drones by the federal government.

We then continued this on the Festmeile west of the Brandenburger Tor. All in all, we got rid of almost 1000 flyers and we have heard that most of the people disagree with the upgrade policy.

Many confirmed us:

  • It can not be that a Secretary of Defense travels to Iraq, where he promises to station Bundeswehr soldiers in the country.
  • It can not be that Frau von der Leyen, hardly the ink under the coalition agreement is dry, instead of the agreed 5 billion in addition to the armaments, again calls for 12 billion.
  • The money is urgently needed in many other places!
  • Arms companies should be subject to a refugee production tax instead of exporting more arms, as more refugees will automatically follow the arms export.
